Edinburg Ole' Time Festival
2008 Festival -- September 19th – 21st
The Edinburg Ole Time Festival, which began in 1980, gets underway the third Friday of each September with a lively Opening Ceremony and the activity goes on for 2 more days.
As a family-oriented weekend Festival, the town comes alive with crafters, food vendors, free entertainment on 3 stages, a separate Children's Festival, an all-day Kite Fest, demonstrators, an Art show, a display of antique cars & tractors, storytellers, and more. All of the Town's quaint shops and restaurants will be open all weekend, as well.
Friday evening's Opening Ceremony is followed by a community sing-a-long, and a classic string-band jam session with square & line dancing in the street. The VFW has a Karaoke evening.
Saturday gets started with an early morning all-you-want breakfast of eggs/sausage/pancakes and more. That will give you just enough time to take part in the 4K Fun Run/Walk. Patrons start lining up early for the annual sale of commemorative pottery at the Information Stand. The "March Through Town" parade kicks off at 1.

That evening at 5:30, a free concert begins on the lawn of the old school, followed by a "Nifty-Fifties" Sock Hop in the Gym, hosted by WSVG's Alan Arehart, the Mobleys and Patty Shaffer. If you're lucky, you might be a winner in the "Cake Walk". The Fire Dept. has a community dinner in the afternoon and the VFW has square dancing in the evening.
Old-Time Church Services start off the Sunday activities. In addition to all of the regular Festival activities, there will be an Old-Timer's Baseball Game at the Town Park, followed by the Bed Race on Piccadilly St. and the annual Duck Race, this year at 4:30 PM at the bridge. The Festival closes with an old fashioned Hymn Sing at St. John's Methodist Church.
The Edinburg Ole Time Festival is sponsored by the Festival Committee and the Town of Edinburg.
Applications are available on the web site for: Patrons, crafters, artists, Fun Run/Walk participants, and entertainers.
