Edinburg Madison District Museum
(currently closed for moving to the Edinburg Mill)

Located at 107 Center Street in the Old Town Hall building,Edinburg Madison District Museum. Circa 1903. The building served as the home of the Edinburg Fire Company until it relocated to Main Street in 1954. This location also served as the Town Hall until 1973 and as the Town Maintenance shop until 1996.

The second floor Opera House was complete with stage and balcony and served the Town as an assembly Hall for years. It was also the home of the Edinburg Teen Center in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s and the Campfire Girls in the early 1900’s

The Museum located here in 1997 and houses a collection of local memorabilia and a photographic history of the area.

TheFurniture and Medical Display. original press used for printing the Edinburg Sentinel is on display along with old editions of the newspaper.

An interesting display of early telephone equipment and tools are on loan from the Shenandoah Telephone Company.

Items from Camp Roosevelt, the first Civilian Conservation Corp Camp, established in 1933 are on display along with many items representing Edinburg businesses from the past and present.

Kerosene and early electric streetlights can be viewed, as well as an old Town water pump and wooden water lines that once served the Town.

One of the popular spots within the museum is the cornerPottery on display at the museum. dedicated to Edinburg’s Schools. Yearbooks and old photographs allow many to reminisce about their triumphs and friends from many years ago.

The Museum is currently closed due to preparations required to permit the Museum’s move to a new location.

'Edinburg's Madison District Park and Pool

Early in 2002, the Town of Edinburg accepted the operation, maintenance, and upkeep responsibilities of the ParkPicnic Shelter and Pool located in Edinburg which was  previously administrated by the Madison District Recreation Association.  Since accepting this responsibility, the Town has established a Committee  made up of Town officials and area residences responsible for the overall management and guidance of the park and pool, and has made many improvements  to the facilities. The Town is committed to continuing the improvements in  the coming years as the budget allows. The Town invites you to visit the Park and Pool and take advantage of the wonderful facilities. Additionally,  we invite you to call or visit Town Hall with any comments or suggestions.

Edinburg's Madison District Park
Edinburg's Madison District Park consist of 4.75 acres located directly
behind the Old Edinburg Middle School off Stony Creek Boulevard. The park is a great place for a weekend picnic, to relax after work, or to enjoy a quiet evening with family and friends and affords a wonderful view of the Massanutten and Blue Ridge Mountains.. The Park consists of three shelters, two tennis courts (one of which is lighted), two playgrounds, and the Edinburg Madison District Pool. A basketball court and a softball field, on County property, are adjacent to the Park. The Park's shelters can be reserved for private gatherings. Edinburg’s Madison District Pool

Edinburg's Madison District Pool is open from mid June through Labor Day. The hours are Monday - Saturday 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Madison District Pooland Sunday 12:30 PM to 6:00 PM. Admissions to the pool are - $3.00 for an adult (18 and over), - $2.00 for school age children, and - $1.00 for children 4 and under. Season Passes are available, - $110.00 for a family pass and $55.00 for a single pass. Pool Parties may be scheduled for Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at a fee of $85.00.  Please call the Town Office for scheduling and more information.

Swim lessons will be held at the pool . The lessons will be offered to those of any age and just about any skill level. A certified Red Cross Instructor will be in charge of the lessons. For additional information on the swim  lessons, contact the Town Office at 540-984-8521.
